Decibel, who rose to fame in the early 2000s with the songs Chido and Nakai is working with popular Kwekwe-based producer, DJ Fydale on his new project.

The United Kingdom-based musician said since leaving Zimbabwe in 2005, he has not released anything serious.

“I am doing an album. I had not really had any serious releases since I left Zimbabwe in 2005.”

Some of the songs on the still-to-be-named album are Zimbabwe and Ndarota Ndinewe.

“I have been involved in a few singles that had some success here (UK) but were never pushed in Zimbabwe.

“The ones people in Zimbabwe may have heard include my cameo role in JJC’s We Are Africans and my single called Dancehall Style which features BKay and Kazz. Otherwise, I have not specifically been in the game so to speak,” he said.

DJ Fydale said he was glad to be working with one of the most talented artistes to emerge from the country.

“Decibel is doing both dancehall and R‘n’B. He contacted me when I was in the UK, saying he had songs he wanted recorded.  We are working electronically as I am in Zimbabwe and he is outside the country.

“It has always been my dream to work with the founders of dancehall and urban grooves like Decibel. Besides Decibel, I am also working closely with Major E and we have two songs so far,” the Black Identity Records CEO said.

Decibel has been living in the UK for over a decade.

He holds a degree in biochemistry from the University of Zimbabwe (2002) and also studied sound engineering in the UK (2011).

Soon after graduating, Decibel was signed by Galaxy Records run by

Delani Makhalima, where he recorded Nakai and Chido.

He then recorded his first album in 2004, What Kind of World at Country Boy Records.

The album carried the title song, What Kind of World which was a hit.
